I was involved with the NYC Centre and I never experienced or observed a single.thing you mention. I DID however experience a group of extremely caring people who because my financial circumstances at the time gave me all of my classes for absolutely free, and during the single most darkest time of my life provided more care and concern for my wellbeing than amotjer religious group I had been involved with for years more than the Centre. Is it a business in a sense too yes but in tue end all rwligiins and spiritualities are. do spiritual people not also inhabit the physical world too? we arent surviving on clouds and sunshine.and i find it SO hilarious all these earmarks and key signs and elements.of a cult mentioned apply to evwry religion out there. So in that fact you lose credibility. catholicism has.the pope foe a central authority digure who speaks for god. the church is notorious for overstepping bounds into peoppes lives for thought reprogramming wtc etc. maybe it says something to humanities nature to destroy beautiful things? just like we are destroying our beautiful earth. live and let live. love.always.

learned TM, got my masters at MIU online, went to live there and work for the clinic. got fired, I wasn't drinking the kool-aid. had the realization that I was really in a cult and left Iowa 2 weeks later. I'm not ok and neither is my career because of MIU covering things up and lying and all the sketchy things they do with their millions of dollars funneling through TM. everyone calls it "the movement". there are maybe a dozen mantras given to people learning TM and the ceremony for TM actually means you are declaring Maharishi as your one and only guru. it's religious yet they claim it isn't. it's actually meant to erase your thoughts in meditation so you are more open to "receive" his teachings. literal brain washing. I've seen it change people so drastically I didn't recognize them after learning to "fly".

I just attended this church for the first time today at the invitation of my friend. I picked up on the "God as Mother" thing as well. Afterwards, I did some research and I’ve included it here. To exit a cult takes courage. It is not a weakness for tears to fall even months or years later. Letting tears fall and sobs from the heart are cleansing. I know of a sub organization of the moon's titled, "the american freedom coalition." Cults use every angle they can and then some to draw the innocent in. In walking away your innocence is gone. Your reality is forever changed. Your innocence was stolen. Replaced by fear. When will the next blow come? How much longer will you live? Cults steal your whole life. I admire the courage of them who tell of their realities.

She didn’t convince many with this naive attempt to come to terms, but he also did a poor and timid job in exposing her hand. I think some of these patterns happen to groups that aren’t officially cults. I was in a theater group and the director originally did not have these qualities but later did. He became Guru like. And theater became cult-like. It was fun for a few years and turned strange after awhile. The director became the unquestionably authority, he became became less and less financially transparent much to the managing directors frustration, criticism was met with a bewildering lack of accountability, and leaving meant „you never were dedicated“ after a while the organization imploded, so it did not last forever. But it was Strange. I didn’t talk to the director for ten years, then did and he is back to normal, and he doesn’t like talking about his negative behaviors of that time. But I also have to say we actually did some very Interesting work in the theater at that time. I think in our modern culture we are not as connected to what anthropology would call participation mystique. In this case the theater became a magical sacred space and the actors and director could not distinguish themselves from the space itself and there was a positive projection onto the director which became negative. It doesn’t fit all of the criteria like milleau control but it fit some aspects. Like using thought Terminating clichés when the director was held accountable. It became codependent it was dysfunctional and we also didn’t want to leave either.

I would hate for there to be a news crew at my most difficult moment in life, but still I’m glad for this footage.
